Effect of different parameters on the tensile properties of printed Polylactic acid samples by FDM: experimental design tested with MDs simulation

Fused depositional modeling (FDM) is one of the common methods for 3D printing polymers, which expanding in various industrial applications, scientific researches, and engineering applications due to its ability make complex parts. In this research, molecular dynamics (MDs) simulation has been used predict physical mechanical properties. Then, properties printed parts were determined. The strongly depend on correct selection processing parameters. study, effect three important parameters such as infill density, speed, layer thickness investigated tensile PLA specimens. For purpose, standard specimens with four densities 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, two speeds 20 mm/s 40 mm/s, thicknesses 0.1 mm 0.2 tested under quasi-static test. all specimens, print angle ± 45°. obtained experimental outcomes from test revealed that increasing infilling improve increase significantly. However, at very high densities, samples behave more brittle, so cases where strength part less than shape appearance, a density 40% suitable terms cost, material, time savings. It was also noted speed observed reducing layer, while slightly stiffness parts, makes extremely other hand, it leads dimensional accuracy surface quality At had highest strength, but exhibits brittle behavior. Moreover, can be deduced by although modulus elasticity increases little, ductility greatly affected.
